A quick update before you read on - I have received the endorsement of the Glenwood Springs Post Independent! Read more here.
In April of this year I filed as a candidate for State Representative in House District 57. I am a native Coloradan and have lived in Moffat County since 1974. My husband, Brian, and I raised three sons in Craig. I taught at Moffat County High School for 29 years and retired in 2003.
As a teacher leader I...
- trained in political advocacy
- boardsmanship
- negotiations
- budgeting
- conflict resolution
After my retirement I served on the Moffat County Board of Education for eight years, four of them as president.
As a board member, I worked to...
- improve funding for the lowest funded districts in the state
- helped with the passage of a bond initiative
participated in the hiring of a new superintendent
I have served for six years on the Colorado School Board Association’s Legislative and Resolutions Committee and gained a better understanding of school boards and legislative issues.
Currently I represent school boards on the State Council for Educator Effectiveness which has been charged with recommending methods of evaluating teachers and principals on a state-wide set of standards. I also serve on the Moffat Count Democratic Party Executive Committee.
